Who is the Bezanson Agricultural Society?

Bezanson Agricultural Society’s purpose is to enrich the community through the encouragement of community spirit and well-being by providing facilities and recreational, educational, agricultural programs and community events and activities within the regional area.

The Bezanson Agricultural Society caters to all local groups and the surrounding area and hosts events, develops projects, and provides essential community initiatives, as well as being available as a rental facility. The Centre is the hub of the community and is available for weddings, funerals, celebrations, meetings, fundraisers, fitness and educational programs, and events.

The Bezanson Ag Society hosts horse clinics, an annual horseshow, children and youth softball & soccer, summer camps, an annual Farm Safety program, family dances, Spring Gala, Golden Leaf Dine & Dance, Halloween party and the Bezanson Spring and Christmas Markets. Agricultural and recreational programs are hosted by the Ag Society. Wherever a need is identified, the Bezanson Ag Society is willing to offer an opportunity.

History of the Bezanson Agricultural Society

The Bezanson Hall and the Curling Club amalgamated as the Bezanson Agricultural Society and was incorporated in 1981. It is a non-profit society registered under the Alberta Agricultural Societies Act.

The first hall was built in 1923 and burnt down in 1949. The existing Memorial Hall was built in 1949, with an addition of a dining hall and commercial kitchen added in 1990 and renovated in 2016. Recently, the Community Centre was built onto the Memorial Hall and opened to the public in September 2018.

Our Facilities

We are proud to operate and maintain several of Bezanson’s finest facilities. Bezanson’s Knelsen Community Centre includes the Bezanson Memorial Hall and the multi-purpose Buffalo Gravel Gym which houses a full-regulation size gymnasium which can accommodate college sports, recreational activities including leagues and tournaments, weddings, memorials, fundraisers, concerts, and events. It also houses a commercial kitchen which is the home to the Freezin’ Hub as well as the large Foyer which houses numerous activities. The capacity of the Gymnasium is 662 people. The Memorial Hall’s capacity of 300 allows meetings, weddings, fitness and well-being activities, events as well as houses a commercial kitchen.

The beautiful grounds offer a gazebo, and includes an outdoor horse-riding arena, a ball diamond located in the hamlet of Bezanson as well as room for camping for patrons of the facilities.
