Along the banks of the Smoky River just 12 km southeast of Bezanson is the Old Bezanson Townsite and what remains of the dream of A.M. Bezanson. In the early 1900s, he started building a city here in anticipation of the rail link. When the line passed through Grande Prairie instead, the Old Bezanson Townsite building footprints is all that remained of his legacy.
With the recent celebration of the centennial of settlement in Bezanson, the Townsite boasts new historical signage, a new playground, as well as many walking trails and the Memorial Cairn installed to commemorate Pioneer Women of the area.
The Campground is run by the County of GP No.1 and available for group bookings only with the rest of the site open as a day use area.
