What brought you and your family to Bezanson?
“My husband and I ‘accidentally’ moved here. We sold our place in GP, planning a move elsewhere. That fell through, and we needed a place to live. My in-laws had bought this house as a potential place to retire. They let us live here ’till we found something else’. Yeah. We never looked any further lol.”
How long have you lived in the community?
“We moved here on April Fool’s Day, 1990.”
What do you think your role is in the community?
“To provide great service at the store!”
Are you involved in any organizations in the community? If so, which ones?
“Since I work evenings, it’s hard to get to meetings, so I’m not actually involved with any of them. In the past, I’ve been on the Parent Council at the school, right back to playschool, and I’ve helped out at Bezanson Church when they had Kid’s Club, and for their summer camps.”
What is your favourite part about this small community?
“My favourite part of the community is the spirit. Everyone seems to watch out for each other, starting with the bigger kids in school looking out for the younger ones.”
What is your best/favourite memory from a Bezanson event?
“There are really too many great memories to just have one. But if I had to choose, it would be the grade nine class giving up their fundraising dinner to turn it into a fundraiser for Neika and Trevor when they lost their house. I was really impressed with that.”
What are your interests and hobbies?
“I love to travel, so I guess my favourite hobby is planning the next trip! Reading and working with my flowers are a couple more.”
What are some of your family’s favourite activities?
“Our kids are gone from home now, so the days of hockey and school sports are over for us. But we do enjoy hosting family barbecues and getting together with family for game nights.”
It is a typical Saturday, what are you up to?
“I seem to work a lot of Saturdays lately, so you’ll probably see me at the store! Otherwise, we enjoy getting together with family and friends.”
What is your favourite restaurant?
“Of course, my favourite restaurant is Lefty’s! If I happen to be elsewhere, I do enjoy the Old Spaghetti Factory.”
What would you like to see in this community in 5 years?
“One thing I have always wanted to see in Bezanson is an arena. My kids both played hockey, and there were a lot of kids in the area who also did. I don’t know if it’s financially feasible, and I’m sure it wouldn’t happen within the next five years, but that is something I would like to see.”
