Celebrate Bezanson – Homecoming, Fair & Horseshow

Mark your calendars for Celebrate Bezanson! This Canada 150 Celebration includes the 60th Bezanson School Homecoming, Fair & Horseshow!! This event is brought to you by the Bezanson Community Groups – a partnership of 12 amazing organizations in Bezanson and sponsored by The Community Fund for Canada’s 150th & the Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta and the County of Grande Prairie No. 1.
August 24th: Exhibits will be accepted at the Bezanson Memorial Hall 12:00 PM – 5 PM
August 25th: Exhibits will be accepted at the Bezanson Memorial Hall 12:00 PM – 6 PM. Judging to follow.
Kick off Saturday, August 26 with a Pancake Breakfast at 8: 30-10:30 am at the Memorial Hall. $5 per person
Bling Your Bike Parade: Bike assembly 8 AM at the West Smoky Legion #244. Judging to follow. Parade commences at 9 AM with procession from the Legion to the Memorial Hall. Categories; 6 & Under, 7-11, 12-16, Over the Hill. No motorized bikes. See complete details in the fair booklet.
Opening Ceremony: 9:30 am
Historical Tours: Two tours available! Choose one or both! Two buses load at the Memorial Hall at 9:45 and 1:45. Join the Tour of the Old Bezanson Townsite & Glen Leslie Church & Cemetery with host Wanda Zenner. Or join the Tour of the Kleskun Hills Museum with hosts Kleskun Hills Museum Society. Each tour is 2 1/2 hours and the bus returns to the Bezanson Memorial Hall. Buses are not wheel chair equipped.
Softball Tournament: 10 am. Ball Diamond #1. 10 am – 4:30 pm. Ball Diamond #1. Drop by Diamond 1 and join a team! Ages 15+.
Fair Bench Show: 9 am – 3 pm. Setup 8 AM. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 780-538-3544 for your Fair Book. Enter your crafts, best baking, photos, veggies & more! Entries accepted Friday, August 25. Check the Fair Book for further details!
Discover Bezanson Photo Contest: Deadline for entry is August 15th. Accepting categories from all ages in Nature & Landscapes; Agriculture; and Community Culture. $600 in prizes to be awarded and displayed at Celebrate Bezanson.
Farmers Olympics – brought to you by the local 4H Club, join the games! Starts at 3pm Saturday. Enter your team of 3-4 for the fastest time in a series of farm inspired events. All ages welcome!
Facepainting & Concession on Site
The Bouncy Boyz Inflatables: $5 per person & participate all day!!
BBQ: 5:30-7:30 pm at the Memorial Hall. $5 per person
Family Dance: 8:30-12:30 pm with Kelly McDermott & NightRyders in the Bezanson Memorial Hall. Free admission.
Kick off Sunday, August 27 with a choice of Church Services:
- Glen Leslie Church with George Malcolm at 9 am
- Bezanson Catholic Church at 9 am
- Bezanson Community Church at 10:45 am
Brunch at the Memorial Hall at 10 am-noon. $5 per person.
Horseshow: 9 am start. Enjoy exhibitors of all ages show their horses & perform! Contact Margaret at 780-831-6716 to register.
There will be NO Camping on the Bezanson Ag Grounds. Camping is available at the Old Bezanson Townsite (no water or services) for $15/night or at the Kleskun Hills Park for $25 per night (water & showers). Call the County of Grande Prairie No. 1 at 780-532-9727 to reserve & pay for your campsite.
Concession and souvenirs in the Memorial Hall. School tours available. Please bring your own lawn chairs.
